Ever since I was a kid, I have loved running. Having played many sports through lower and middle school, I believe that athletic excellence is one of my highest priorities. I didn't know that I was a runner until I ran cross country in seventh grade when I dominated the field. My love for competing compelled me to quit lacrosse and run track in eighth grade. That year ran a PR of 4:54 in the 1600m and 2:07 in the 800m with no serious training. I believe that I have a lot of natural talent, and only recently have I began to touch upon it. With some training last spring and a minor injury, I was able to run two 1:56s at our conference's championship in the 4x800 and open 800. Over the summer I was finally able to race against some real competition, I hit 4:03 in the 1500 at the USATF Junior Olympic 17-18 Men's Finals. I am looking forward to a lot of new PRs in this year's track season.
Over my years at St. Marks, I have developed a work ethic that has allowed me to balance a strenuous academic lifestyle with running. I believe that this skill is essential to succeeding on a track team at a prestigious college, which is why I will be a great team member of any college track team. My parents, teachers, coaches, and friends hold me to a high standard that has helped me create a strong character. I know that at whatever college I attend, I will continue to improve myself mentally and physically in pursuit of reaching my potential.
