My name is Lance Andrews. I recently graduated Sweeny High School in the top 20% of my class and I'm also a member of the National Honor Society. I have also accumluated 42 college credit hours while attending high school. My goal is to be part of a winning college track team beginning Fall 2012. I feel I am on my way to this goal. I am anxious to be part of a team with others who share the same goal. I know that I can improve my times even more with proper training, intense workouts and quality coaching. p>
Individually, I run the 800m, 400m, and 200m. I am also part of the 4x400m and 4x200m relays. Both relays continued to improve our times all the way to the UIL State Track Meet in Austin, Texas. I remained pumped throughout the season. The possibility of running on a college team seemed to become more and more of a reality.
I ran cross-country, 800m, 1600m and 2400m in Jr. High, which gave me a good foundation for running sprints and relays when I began High School. I ran on varsity my Junior and Senior years. I continued to run faster and improve my times. I plan to continue that pattern and I'm ready to work hard to be a valued team player. I am from a small town and school and like that setting. But I am willing to see what else is out there and look around at different colleges.

I have three older siblings and they all have attended college. I know how expensive it is and I want to be able to help my parents out some by getting some scholarship money while I continue to do what I enjoy...running.I know that with more intense training I can be better and faster. I do realize that I am only 18 and there is hard work and dedication ahead. But I am up to the challenge.
So far this season, as a team we won district and were Region IV runner ups. We won district in the 4x400m, and were 2nd in the 4x200m. I am the first leg in both relays. At the regional meet we placed 2nd in the 4x200m, and 2nd in the 4x400m, and advanced to State in both. I had the fastest 1st leg of the mile relay in Region IV with a 49.8, with winds of up to 30 mph.
We took 7th in the 4x200m in the State meet with my 1st leg split being a 22.6. We placed 8th in the 4x400m relay. My 1st leg split was a 49.5, and our overall time was a 3:23. At the end of my senior year, I was awarded the 2012 track MVP, as well as the Sweeny Pride Award. Both of these awards are a big honor. I plan on achieving more when I find the right fit with a college team. Please take a look at the videos posted on this site. I appreciate you taking the time to check out my profile.
