Personal Statement

I want to compete in this sport so that I can keep improving and perform the best that I can. Doing my training helps me improve my endurance and strengths. Training helps give me confidence for future races and knowing that I’m capable of competing with great competition. I like running because I’m able to test myself with how long I can withstand the pain and keep pushing even when things get tough. I like learning from other runners and taking their advice to help me improve.

Some of my strengths as a student is that I’m always trying to do better and improving my grades.  I am very determined and hardworking. I am also confident in my abilities, resilient, motivated, competitive, and work under pressure. I am very passionate about track and cross country, and always get excited to learn new things. I got the freshman of the year award for my high school in cross country and track and field. I take my training very seriously and am always willing to do my warmup and cool down before and after races/workouts. I am always one of the first people to show up to practice and the last people to leave.

I have major goals for cross country and track. It is to set as many school records as I can. I want to be able to compete at high level meets and place well in my events/cross country races. I want to get as close as I can to our 1600 school record this track season which is 4:21, and my current pr is 4:38 from this May in my freshman year. Then for the 3200 my Sophomore year I want to run sub 9:30. For the 800 I want to run sub 2:03 this track season and keep improving every year. I want to maintain a high GPA throughout high school and attend cross country and track camps in the summers. Some of my main goals by the end of my high school career is to qualify for NXN, break 15, get the school record in the 4x800, 800, 1600, and 3200. Win a Region title from the 800 to the 3200, and place high at Divisional's and State.
