I'm 16, one of the youngest people in my graduating class but I consistently show that I can overcome any challenge. In 2015, my first year of high school track, I was an unexpected competitor. Many of my fellow athletes didn't take me seriously because of how small I was. By the end of the season, I had become the Vermont State Champion in the triple jump, proving those who doubted me wrong. When 2016 came around, I made sure to keep my training hard and efficient, hoping to win another state title. I worked day in and day out to become Vermont State Champion in not just the triple jump but also the long jump. Along the road to my success, I had qualified for the New England Track & Field Championships. Upon learning I was seeded in the 40's, I made sure to push myself to the absolute limit. I ended up missing my flight for the triple and had to jump with the top 11 seeds there. I finished in 7th overall, missing the podium by a few inches. That day I knew I wanted to jump in college.
