I have been very fortunate in life and haven’t had many obstacles because of my amazingly supportive family and friends. One time, in middle school, I wasn’t feeling the greatest about my physical fitness and wanted to get better, I tried football and it didn’t hit right for me. I knew I was fast so I turned to track. I tried field events and wasn’t picking them up fast enough, but I kept coming back to sprints and saw some success and knew I could take it farther.
I’ve learned that if I enjoy something enough and put my mind to it I can excel past my peers and my own expectations. I always look at other people’s times and say “I could hit that next year if I work hard enough” and I plan to work and make myself better with every week. Not only am I a solid athlete, I bring others up with me and work to make those around me better as I get better. I cheer my teammates on and hype the team up even if everyone might be feeling a bit down.
Academically I’m happy where I’m at and plan to maintain my current GPA while taking some AP classes in the next two years in order to challenge myself. In college, I plan to earn a degree in communications and eventually work towards a masters in public relations. I play the bassoon in my school orchestra and am on the drumline for the marching band. Some of my other interests include playing tennis for my school team, snowboarding, kayaking, and building/upgrading my own computer.
