My name is Diego Corchado, senior class of 2023, and I am a cross country runner in the fall and distance specialist for track and field in the spring. Entering high school, I worked hard to make the varsity team as a freshman, gaining valuable experiences as we travelled. I was nominated my sophomore and junior year as the hardest worker by my teammates in cross country and most improved in track my sophomore year.
I learned the value of grit, comradery, leadership, and a good work ethic, or in my cross country coach's words a "lunchbox kid, someone who always is ready to work when they come to practice and pull others with them". I always try to embody these values as I will be a captain for the cross country team this fall. As captain, I want to maintain the same environment that I was introduced to when I came to high school.
I am looking forward to the seasons to come, and hope that I can continue running collegiately. I am looking for a school that has a competitive nature on the track and in the classroom, where I would like to get a degree in mechanical engineering.
