Sports have always been an important part of my life. Growing up in a community brought together by sporting events, I have always valued being the best athlete I can possibly be. My passion for athletics, especially track, does not go unnoticed. I was given the "Whatever it Takes" Dedication Award my sophomore year by my coaches for pushing myself to new limits. Most notably, during the 300m hurdles race at the varsity conference meet, I hit the last hurdle and fell to the ground rolling. I proceeded to literally crawl the remaining few meters as fast as I could across the finish line and earn an 8th place spot, contributing a point to my team's first place total. Although this one point had little impact on my team's win that night, it serves as a symbolic reminder of how much I care about and am dedicated to any team I am apart of.
Attending camps every summer and spring with the UW Madison track program is just one example of the drive I have to improve my abilities. After making just one varsity appearance my freshman year in the 110m hurdles, my sophomore year I ran the 110m and 300m hurdles strictly at the varsity level. My hard work and off season training helped me to improve and earn this new position on the team. I am extremely excited to see what my junior and senior track seasons bring and how much further I grow!
My extreme dedication and strong work ethic follow me from the track, into the classroom. I have earned a 4.0 unweighted GPA every semester in high school, all while taking every accelerated, AP, and Laude class I can. I try extremely hard in school because I value a good education, something that is sure to affect my college decision when seeking a Biology or other STEM related major.
