Hello Coaches, my name is Jorge Juarez II, I am an outside hitter who has a massive passion for volleyball and hopes to pursue a career in collegiate-level volleyball. I am a 14-year-old Liberty High School freshman on the boy's varsity team. I am also on the 16U Pacific Rim Volleyball Academy team.
Growing up I was in love with basketball and could never get enough of it, I did anything affiliated near me with basketball. I was and still am a huge NBA fan. But as time went on, my love for the sport began to dwindle. My family had always played volleyball and taken it seriously since I can remember but all I would do is watch and pick up skills now and then. I made my middle school volleyball team in sixth grade even though I had no passion for the sport and I was afraid of the older kids.
When quarantine struck our lives, my interest in sports never faded away but the opportunities to continue to get better in sports did. I stopped playing sports a lot more, but I began to watch sports a great deal more. I watched Men's volleyball and realized how amazing the sport was. During this time I started to watch a show called, Haikyuu!! It was a very popular volleyball anime, and by the time I finished the show my eighth-grade year rolled around and I had the opportunity to play for my middle school team once more.
By the end of my season, I could not get enough of volleyball and with the help of my coach, we were able to convince my parents into letting me begin playing club volleyball. My parents left me a major decision that would sculpt the rest of my life I had to choose between basketball or volleyball. I had no hesitation to choose volleyball because I will never love anything more than this sport, aside from my family and God.
I am overjoyed to have found a sport I have huge aspirations for and I will not rest until I meet them. I have constantly had to overcome obstacles in only my Freshman year with club volleyball, school, and my high school team. But the one thing I have persistently done is work extremely hard to come on top of these challenges.
Outside of sports, I live with my sister, brother, mother, and father in Brentwood California. I play sports year-round, grow in my faith, and knowledge, and eat a lot of food. I hope this helped perceive what kind of athlete I am.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile.
Wishing you the best, Jorge Juarez II.
