"Can you wiggle your fingers, I want to see the tendons move inside your arm?" The nurse asked prior to me receiving 75 stitches. The six inch gash in my forearm caused by the dole chainsaw my father was using while trimming trees has had a profound impact on my life.
The profound impact created a huge volleyball setback. The injury scared me because I thought I would never be able to play again. However when I got the news that it was just a " flesh wound" I was relieved because it could have been much worse. Getting the news that I would be able to play again has inspired me play the game with thankfulness and gratefulness. Knowing that it can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
I love the game of volleyball, I love the team aspect of volleyball, and I love the fact that I have been given a second chance.
