I am a 6 foot 6 inch, 190-pound middle blocker with an 11'3' approach from San Diego, California and have two and 1/2 years of club volleyball experience with Coast VBC. Currently I am a member of Coast 18-1, which will be lead by Coach Darrell Dilmore this season. I also have had the recent honor of participating in USA Volleyball’s 2014 HP Championships (BYA1 Red YYR) in Tulsa, OK this past July. Coached by Jonathan Winder (Pepperdine) and Colin McMillan (Penn State), I was a starting middle blocker for the headlining BYA1 team. We went undefeated going into the championship match, took Keystone (KRVA) to five sets, and earned silver medal in our division.
Just prior to the HP Championships, I participated in the Boy's Junior National Championships with my Coast 17-1 team in Houston, TX in July 2014. Under the direction of Coach Ted Summers-Torres, we earned the bronze medal in the club division. This past season, as the starting middle on Coast’s 17-1, our team held a solid 5th place in the SCVA among the 17’s throughout most of the entire season. Additionally, beginning this past December (2013), Coach Darrell Dilmore invited me to participate in practices with his Coast 18-1 team. I have continued to be involved with this Coast 18-1 team in this capacity, throughout the summer of 2014.
To provide background: I began at Coast VBC on their 15-1 team, traveling to the BJNC’s in Dallas, TX in 2012 (finishing 11th overall, Open Division). As a starting middle on Coast’s 16-1, I assisted our team in earning two silver medals at both of California’s major tournaments that year (NCVA’s No Dinks in San Mateo - January 2013, and at SCVA’s Junior Classic in Anaheim - June 2013). During the summer of 2013, our Coast 16-1 also competed at the BJNC’s in Reno (Open Division).
As a member of the Rancho Bernardo High School team (Division I), I played as starting middle on the Varsity team as a sophomore (placing 3rd in our conference last year).
This past high school season (2014), I made a personal goal to increase my versatility as a player, and to attempt to increase my role as a leader. Thus, this past 2014 high school season I expanded my skill set to include right side/opposite. It was also an honor to be selected as captain of our high school Varsity squad this year.
I currently have a 3.74 overall weighted GPA (grades 9-11) in college prep and honors courses, and earned a 1900 on the SAT’s. I will be taking the ACT on September 13th, 2014.
My goal is to find the right balance between the classroom and the court. I am open to considering various opportunities at all division levels of play and am seeking a university where I can obtain a degree in business or one of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) fields. Although I have always resided in California, I am very open to the idea of committing to an institution located in another area of the country as I am an avid traveler and greatly enjoy various locales and cultures. Ultimately, I know that being part of a collegiate-level athletic program would greatly impact my life in numerous, positive ways. I am passionate about high-level competitive volleyball and the opportunities it offers to be a part of something larger than myself.
