Canaan Neary '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi Coach!

My name is Canaan Neary, and I am very excited to start my recruiting process. I am a born athlete and have successfully played many other sports but volleyball lets me put every aspect of my athletic ability in this game which makes me love it. I am of Jamaican and American decent, 17 years old, a high honors Junior at Half Hollow Hills EAST High School on Long Island NY, and I will proudly be graduating in 2024. 

 I play Outside Hitter for my High School, and I am the captain of our varsity team.  I have been playing volleyball since 7th grade and have been told by all my coaches that I am a pleasure to coach and an honor to watch me play.  My vertical, agility, speed, and focus are my strengths and winning is my passion. I have been accepted for a second year into ACADEMY RED 17 Long Island Volleyball as first position right side hitter and second outside. I am so proud to be a part of this organization and look forward to an amazing year in club and becoming even better at my game.

 My upbringing has taught me to go after my dreams full force, to be respectful, grateful and a team player.  My hopes and dreams are to play incredible Volleyball in College and to possibly become an Engineer or surgeon. 

My other achievements and hobbies. I have played almost every sport and even played varsity football as a freshman. I achieved a very difficult challenge of getting my black belt and have won many tournaments in karate and MMA. I like to play the drums, guitar, and piano and have performed concerts for my school and drumline as a percussionists. Im into fitness and calisthenics and have even done tricking and freerunning. I love spending time with my friends and family and talk to them every single day.
