Nicholas Cumbo '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Nicholas Cumbo.  I am a 5'8, 155 lbs libero/ defensive specialist and I’m presently a senior at Lancaster High School, located in Upstate New York.  

I have played other high school sports that included baseball and basketball but my passion is Volleyball, where I’ve started playing in 7^th grade.  Since being introduced to the game I have played school volleyball every year, club volleyball during the winter seasons, and beach volleyball in the summer.  In 2016, I tried out and was selected by USA Volleyball where I received training from USA Volleyball coaches and competed against players across the U.S. at their training camp at UNLV.  

I am conscientious in my school and personal life where I take pride in my work to get higher than satisfactory results.  I have a strong knowledge of the game, can handle high-stress situations, a proven competitor, strong leader, detailed oriented and a team first player.  

Accomplishments in my volleyball and academic career include:

• Game highlights recognized and published in the Buffalo News newspaper:  
  • 21 digs in 3 sets on 9/14   
  • 19 digs in 3 sets on 9/19
  • Recognized as receiving All Tournament Player Award at a local Volleyball tournament
  • 30 digs in 4 sets on 9/29

  • Two year starter
  • Named captain of the Lancaster Legends Varsity volleyball team
  • Averaged 6 digs per set
  • Recognized and received Lancaster Legends Student Athlete of the Week Award

• Academic achievements include:   
  • Weighted GPA of 3.93
  • Recognized by Lancaster High school and received the Scholar Athlete award. 
  • Recognized by Lancaster High school and received Legends Academic Gold Award for making the Honor Roll 4 consecutive making period for the last 3 years.

I believe my experience and record of accomplishments makes me uniquely qualified as a student athlete and possess what is need to succeed at at the next level.
