Sports have always been a very important part of my life. Since I was young I have loved the challenge that competitive sports provided. I believe that competing in athletics has helped me physically, mentally and academically. Athletics has taught me the discipline and teamwork that have helped me in the classroom and on the volleyball court.
I played multiple sports growing up, but when I found volleyball it was clear to me that this was my passion. I currently play up one year on Academy Long Island 17 Open club team and the three year undefeated NSCHSAA Champion Varsity Chaminade High School Volleyball team, being accepted to this team as one of the two Freshmen made me very proud. I feel that I have improved as a player and a teammate each year.
I work very hard to be a well-rounded student, athlete and person. In school, I currently take all honors classes. In the indoor volleyball off season I train doubles beach which has helped my physical strength and endurance. I play in beach doubles volleyball tournaments, this summer I was successful in earning bids to Jr. Nationals, East Coast Championships and West Coast Championships. I also placed 6th overall for the 2023 AVP Grand Prix Junior National Beach Season - playing up at 16U. I feel that playing beach has helped develop my speed, strength, agility and overall volleyball skills. Additionally, I compete with my High School's Varsity Riflery team, again being accepted as a Freshman was an honor. I am a 1st Degree Belt in Kenpo Karate. I am employed at my dojo as a Sempai where my responsibilities include training students on their techniques and for creating curriculum. In addition, I am trained as an Airialist and have been training for 10 years with professional circus performers from all over the world and some have performed for Cirque de Soleil. I am employed seasonally (summer 8 weeks) by Driftwood Camp training campers on the large trapeze and static trapeze. Being involved in so many different sports is often a challenge, but it is also very rewarding and has helped me learn how to best manage my time.
In addition, I have been invited, and plan on attending, this summer's Rome City Volleyball Elite Summer Camp in Rome, Italy. This will give me a different methodology to the sport while training with experienced European coaches.
All of these experiences have taught me that in life you need to be willing to work as hard as is necessary to achieve your goals - nothing worthwhile comes easily. My goal is to continue improving on the volleyball courts, in the classroom and as a person... and I will work hard to achieve that goal.
