My name is Kyle Rosenblatt and I attend Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California. My passion for water polo began when I started swimming at age 5 and playing water polo at age 10. I have developed my skills through playing on my club team, CC United, and by playing on my high school Varsity (Sophomore and Junior year) and JV (Freshman year) teams. I also spent 1 1/2 years playing water polo for SV Basel while living in Switzerland. Over the years, I have developed into a strategic utility player which allows me to excel at several areas of the sport.
Throughout my water polo career, I have been able to continually increase my level of play through many different opportunities. I have played in 5 different Junior Olympics. My last year in 14 and Unders, my coach appointed me team captain because of my leadership abilities. My 16U coach this year has also appointed me the team's captain. My team mates elected me team captain for my high school team for the 2021-2022 season. I appreciate these opportunities to further develop my leadership skills as well as my skills as a team player. I also earned the opportunity to play in three different ODP National Championships for the Pacific Zone (2019, 2020, 2021). I enjoyed the challenge of playing with some of the best players in the sport and being able to challenge myself in order to develop into an even stronger player.
I'm especially proud that I have been able to accomplish all that I have in water polo while still maintaining a 4.13 weighted (3.95 unweighted) GPA. I earned this GPA while taking challenging honors and AP classes. I have learned time management and perseverance through pursuing this level of academics while playing high school and club water polo and participating in other school activities including multiple clubs. This hard work has paid off as I have earned President's List honors in swimming (2019) and water polo (2018 and 2019). I am also an Academic All American for 2019-2020.
Another accomplishment that I am especially proud of is my voulenteering at East Bay Sea Serpents. Sea Serpents is a Special Olympics program that helps teach people with disabilities how to swim and they just recently added a water polo program. Throughout my time at Sea Serpents, I have been able to pass my love of the water on to other athletes. I developed a special relationship with a 5 year old athlete who I taught to swim. I appreciated this chance to build trust and a relationship with another young athlete and to be his base of support for his athletic endeavors.
My goal for college recruitment is to play water polo at a competitive collegiate level while also excelling at a competitive academic school. I intend to major in Economics or Business with the goal of attending law school after graduation. I'm looking forward to the the challenge of playing water polo at a collegiate level and pursuing my academic interests.
