My name is Luke Jongsma. I am a Senior (Class of 2024) at Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida. I started in the Seminole High School Health Academy program as a freshman and will complete the program this year, which is preparing me for what I want to study in college. My goal is to work in the healthcare industry and I want to become a Physician Assistant. My academics are just as important to me as my athletics, so I have taken honors and AP courses throughout high school and continue to do so my senior year. I have a 4.15 grade point average at the beginning of this year. I am a member of the National Honors Society for the last two years. I have swam on the Varsity swim team my sophomore and junior years and and set to compete at the Varsity level as a Senior this year. My races are the 200 and 500 meter. I have played Varsity water polo as a freshman, sophomore and junior. I was both the team captain for swim and water polo this past year. I consider myself a versatile water polo player who can play any role on a team, but my strength is defense, playing center defender driver and wing. I was awarded the Best Newcomer Award in water polo my freshman year. I was given the Golden Nole Award in swimming my sophomore year, which is given to a leader and overall good team mate. As a water polo player my junior year I was awarded Outstanding Defensive Player and the Unsung Hero Award, which showcased my dedication to my sport and team. I want to play college water polo because of the high athletic and academic standards that are required of student athletes. I am a great candidate for your team because I have already found my cadence playing sports while maintaining my academics above a 4.0 GPA. Sports continues to be the avenue for me to continue to learn while working towards my academic and career aspirations.
