Dear Coaches,
My name is Nicholas Kainoa Song Davidson and I am a senior at Punahou High School in Manoa, Hawaii. This summer I competed with Vanguard Blue 18s under Coach Joe Molina. Prior to this summer, I started as a Freshman, Sophomore and Junior on Punahou's Varsity I Water Polo team that took state championships all 3 years. I have had the honor of making NTSC selections with USA Water Polo (2021, 2022 and 2024). I recently experienced my first international competition in Serbia this past August with USAWP'S All-Star Regional 18U team and have been invited to the NorCal USA Water Polo Academy team training on December 5-7, 2024 and January 24-26, 2025.
I am a valuable team member and leader on my club and high school Varsity water polo teams. I am a well-rounded player and have a very high water polo IQ with great field vision and accuracy. I am fearless and relentless on both defense and offense, possess very solid ball-handling skills and a team-player mentality. I have the mental toughness, determination, and grit that sets me apart. I work extremely hard and give 100% every minute. I am able to read my opponents, anticipate, adjust and lead my teammates. I am comfortable with pressure and high demands. I work hard year-round, dedicating my time to school and club water polo practices, club and Varsity swim practices and the weight room. I am not afraid to work hard and look forward to any challenges thrown my way. These are some reasons why I would be a great addition to your roster.
My passion for being in the water began in 2012 when I was 4 years old. I have swam competitively since I was 7 and have competed in dozens of 1-2 mile open ocean swims, including the 2.4-mile Waikiki Rough Water Swim three times before I was 11 years old. I have ran in long distance races up to a half marathon, competed in biathlons and triathlons with my family. In 2018, I had my first experience with water polo, and since then, I have aspired to play water polo at the highest level while reaching my academic goals. I am grateful for your consideration and look forward to becoming part of your team.
Respectfully,
Nicholas Kainoa Song Davidson
