Samantha Wattawa '21 Recruiting Profile

My goal is to obtain a scholarship to continue to play basketball while working toward a Physical Therapy degree through kinesiology/exercise science. I am looking for a school with strong academics, and a basketball program with coaches that have experience to continue my growth in the sport, will push me out of the box, and creates a family atmosphere.

To the team I bring experience in all positions, a work ethic to push myself and my teammates, a willingness to be coached and continue to learn more about this game and be a teammate that will support and push others to reach their goals. I enjoy an uptempo team with a defensive mentality. I view myself “new to the game”  as I have just completed my second season of club basketball. Most of my basketball experience comes from high school seasons. For this reason I know I still have a lot to learn and feel I have not reached my peak in basketball. Along with athletics, I push myself to succeed in the classroom. After my undergrad, I plan to continue on to a Physical Therapy degree. For this reason I know that my academics also need to be my priority as I represent a school while on the court.

From my coaches, I hope to find a staff that will continue my growth in basketball. A staff that will communicate their expectations of me and push me to reach my goals. I want to be a factor on the court and have a staff that will trust me to make a difference. From my teammates I want a family. One that has a strong camaraderie on and off the court, at the same time competitive and supportive.
