Playing basketball has always been second nature to me since I was 5. Being exposed to different levels of skill in basketball, whether it be club or high school ball, I've learned to become a more well-rounded student-athlete. Because I began playing at a young age, balancing school and sports has become a part of my lifestyle and still being in high school, time management is certainly demonstrated in my performance off the court. One feature I value from playing basketball is how it brings me as an athlete to experience networking and learning from others who are better than me. I believe that networking is extremely valuable teaching athletes like myself that as dirty as competition can get, respect is the underlying foundation to being an athlete because you never know when you'll find yourself working for or with a player you played against. What I enjoy about basketball is the skill and the style put into the game. I personally favor the saucy handles and how creative you can get with your skills to not only compete but have fun with the game. I know when my game isn't strong and I when my game is hot but no matter what state I will be in, it isn't an excuse to stop working hard and improving every day. Ultimately my take away from playing basketball is to experiment, learn and improve so that at the end of the day I can say I gave it everything I had.
