Personal Statement
As a kid, I always loved to go outside and play and be competitive, but the first time I showed serious interest in the sport of basketball is when I watched Lebron James on TV. His athleticism and intelligence on the court always stood out to me. Making the Varsity basketball team my freshman year and winning CIF was also an impactful and amazing experience that helped me develop into a better player. Through that year I learned how much long nights and early mornings can push you above your competition. I learned what true leadership is and how to get stronger as a team. I now understand that it's ok to make mistakes because that's a part of the growing process and it's good to push yourself against better competition.
Academically, I'm going to pursue the continuation of a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. I'm also going to continue to enroll into classes that challenge me as a student and provide me with the best overall education. What puts me aside from other athletes is that I'm extremely coachable and I have a hard-working mentality. Any free time I have is always used to get better at my craft. I once heard someone say, "The rep that you take off is the rep that the same athlete didn't." I use this to motivate me to never take any reps off and to never allow myself to become lazy. I will always be the one to put in the extra work when no ones watching.
