Hi my name is Katelyn Farrell I am a 16 year old female basketball player. I am 5 foot 2 inches and I weigh 125 pounds. I was born on August 13 , 2000 in San Francsisco CA. I currently live in Kelseyville CA . I live with my mom and my 2 younger sisters.
My love for basketball started in the 3rd grade at school. It was something about the challenge of getting the ball through the hoop that was rewarding. Ever since I told my mother I wanted to play basketball I have been absolutely in love with the game. I have played in 4 different stages of basketball. The first stage was 3rd grade Konocti Basketball League (KBL) I played KBL for 5 years and I soon learned that I had a natural ability to score ,shoot ,dribble ,steel the ball and take over the game at will. This was an advantage over my peers which set me above and also a target for other coaches to stop, I always accepted the challenge. I played the 2 guard position and won multiple games and my highest scoring game for KBL was 32 points and in the 5th the grade we won all star championship. KBL helped me understand how to play as a team and work on my skill set as a 2 guard.
Stage 2 of my basketball journey was when i went to lower lake elementry. I played on the 7-8 grade basketball school team was named Konocti. I was the starting 2 guard in the 7th grade, we went 14 and 0 undefeated and won the tittle for our county. Once again I found that my skill set was advanced . 3 pointers, creating my own shot from nothing, defense , I did any and everything I could to win as part of a team. The 8th grade season we lost a few games. I moved to the point guard and being in charge of calling the plays , it was something new for me but our team won back to back tittles for our school. In the 8th grade I realized i can pass really well, I was like a quarterback I would pass to get them open and it payed off. I found my court vision improved I seen the floor in a different light.
Stage 3 of my love of the game high school. I am a freshman starting point guard on the varsity basketball team where once again I found my skills as a player helped me adjust. It was a transition everyone was bigger and faster but I played very well taking people of the dribble, steeling the ball ,passing and shooting I relied on what I always known about basketball its a team sport and you win by playing as a team.
Stage 4 AAU basketball I have been playing for lake county storm since 6th grade to the present jv team. We have won multiple championships over the years. We play at the Hardwood palace in Sacramento and in Reno. My game as much improved since AAU due to the high level of competition from all types of players. I learned that I gave ability to be the best, my shooting, court awareness, being able to create space and knock down my shot , defense, team work and being a team leader. I find when im on the floor I am the best player out there at that moment and my ability to take over the game is a huge mental and skill set that I have.
