I have been playing basketball since I was 8 years old and have trained and competed at the club/AAU level since the 4th Grade. I currently play club ball for Lady Jets 17U UA Rise and Olympic Club Elite. Through basketball, I have learned to value discipline, dedication and hard work, as well as the importance of loyalty, friendship and teamwork. I have also had a lot of fun throughout the years, and I want to keep doing it through college.
I have a high basketball IQ, strong ball-handling skills, shooting accuracy from beyond the 3-point arc, and I enjoy the art of being a playmaker. I also really LOVE to play DEFENSE. In fact, I would say that defense has defined my game from the start: As a young player on my first club team, I remember being the last girl to score a point during our initial tournament season. From that time on, I set my sights on regaining possession of the ball for my team in order to help us get a bucket for the coach, if not do it myself. I am also a sprinter on the Varsity Track and Field team, so I always bring speed and intensity to the court.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a 4.34 GPA with an honors course load. I serve in a leadership position as a vice president and producer for my high school’s bi-weekly internet video news program (SITV). I have also written regular pieces for the school newspaper (Inside SI). In addition, my poetry submissions have been selected for publication in our annual literary magazine (The Quill). I also enjoy expressing myself through visual art (drawing, sketching, painting, sculpture) and have been fortunate to win awards for my creations. I have also volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank for several years.
Full disclosure: My teammates and coaches tell me that I have an off-the-wall sense of humor.
Basketball has afforded me many wonderful opportunities so far, and I look forward to the experiences that lie ahead at the collegiate level. I look forward to talking about how we can bring my athleticism, intelligence and personality to your campus and program!
