For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to go to college, play basketball, and pursue a career in journalism. Through this, I've developed many characteristics that have helped me get to where I am now and receive great opportunities. When I was six, my family and I moved from Cedar Hill, Texas to Camarillo, CA and later to Moorpark, CA. When third grade came around, I decided that I wanted to put my interest into playing competitive basketball.
I have great self-control and patience, I face challenges with an open mind and without stress, and most of all, when I say I'm going to get something done, I get it done through whatever means necessary. I am able to adapt to any situation, overcome any challenge without breaking down. I don't get stressed easily and make sure to keep a calm demeanor when things get difficult.
In the classroom, I have maintained a steady GPA throughout all of my years of high school so far. I am an active member of Girl Scouts and have received my Silver Award and my Gold Award, the two highest awards Girl Scouts can achieve. Besides that, I am also a member of the Black Culture Club (BCC) at my school and enjoy taking part in the activities. During the summer, I volunteer and help out at the basketball camps put on by the school to help kids and lead by example.
In basketball and in school, I reflect these characteristics actively; furthermore, I would maintain these characteristics as a person and as a player. Therefore, I guarantee that I will be able to represent my team and my coaches and other players with respect to have the most rewarding experience possible at whatever college I attend.
