Personal Statement
My name is Nylah Nuri. I am an athletic 5' 10" dual sport athlete who gave up soccer last year when I realized that basketball was my true love. Since that realization I have been working hard to improve my game. I really want to be the best I can be and play competitively in college.
I've been playing basketball since the 2nd grade. I've played on my high school varsity basketball team since my freshman year and have been an integral part of the team. I'm a shooting guard /small forward that can consistently hit the three, get to the basket with speed and strength all while leading the charge on defense guarding positions 1 through 4. I was awarded 1st Team All-Region for the '21-'22 season, averaging 18 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals per game on 41% shooting and 80% free throws. During the '20-'21 season I was awarded All Region Honorable Mention averaging 12 pts, 5 rebounds and 2 steals per game on 44% shooting and was the Defensive Player of the Year for my team.
I work hard and give my all whether on the court, at practice or in my studies. I am interested in studying biological sciences and would love to continue excelling in basketball and play at the highest level during my college years.
