Personal Statement
Growing up, my parents never really pushed me to do any particular sport, in fact at first I was a dancer and enjoyed gymnastics. However, since my dad was a college athlete, I feel like basketball was a sport I was destined to play. Looking back now, I’m glad they never pushed me to pick a sport, because it enabled me to chose and find a passion for basketball on my own. I began playing basketball at the age of 10, and immediately fell in love with the sport. I love the competitive nature of basketball when I step onto the court and the team first atmosphere the sport provides. Last year, as a freshman, I moved to Savannah Christian Preparatory School and was one of 3 freshman to play on varsity. Now, as a sophomore I am starting at small forward. This school also provides me with the academic rigor needed to be successful in college. Right now, I am taking 3 Pre-AP classes and AP World History all while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. I feel as though not only do I provide the academic necessities to play at the next level, but the drive and leadership that playing college basketball requires. I believe that hard work and determination are what make a strong leader, and I believe that I possess these qualities. I also believe that I could add these qualities to a college team. I am a focused student-athlete with the dream and drive to play basketball at the next level, and I will do whatever it takes to achieve this dream and put in the work necessary.
