Taylor Rose Whitney '16 Recruiting Profile

I am passionate about volleyball and basketball. I love absolutely everything about them! I believe consistency in training, conscientiousness in practices and becoming a student of your sport are key to excelling! I have been playing both sports since the 7th grade and with my height advantage and willingness to work hard year-round I have improved each year.

I lettered in both sports all four years as a starter at Lapwai High School. As a freshman my team was runners-up to the state title. My junior year we won the state championship and broke 5 state records as a team. We took multiple titles as a team last year including national Native American Basketball Invitational.

In basketball my strengths are my speed, defense, and shooting. I anticipate the pass causing turnovers, lead the league in shot blocks, and pride myself in not fouling carelessly. I can shoot and pass with speed and accuracy. I love to play a fast-paced game. 

Although our volleyball team didn't reach the level of achievement (11-8) I wished for this season, I was selected by regional coaches as a stand-out in Idaho's Whitepine League. 

In volleyball I excel in hitting. I have joined the Snake River Junior Club Team and am looking forward to traveling, meeting and interacting with my new teammates and coaches, and learning the skills I need to play collegiately.

I play multiple sports and train on the weekends and in the off-season. I am determined to find the right collegiate program, to become a stronger player and complete all my educational  goals while doing the sport I  love. I have what it takes to compete at a high level of play  and I have a desire to to grow   and win!
