Anyone can shoot, pass, dribble, etc. What I stand out from most people is that I focus on how to make the team better, including myself. I excel at balancing my goals vs team goals. I also value defense in my game. If I don't have a great offensive play, then I can make up for it on defense. I started playing basketball in 8th grade and I've already learned and grown from just these past three years. In my first year playing, I received All Tournament Player Award. In the following year, I was awarded as a North Suburban Conference Leadership Member. This past year, I received the Grant All Tournament Player Award. I enjoy the physical aspects of the game, like blocking a shot or draining a deep three. I am excited to continue this journey post high school. This past summer, I was able to contribute to two strong AAU teams. By doing so, they gave me more experience and skills of becoming a Power Forward that can shoot consistent threes. This helped me become a triple threat and add to my basketball resume.
My strengths are not just on the basketball court. I greatly value my academic achievements. In 8th grade, I received Outstanding Academic Excellence Award. So far in high school, I have received all High Honor Roll awards. This includes me learning new forms of communication, like French. I also have the beginning knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL), due to my sister's hearing loss. I feel like basketball is a new language that I need to conquer. I am excited to continue and grow as a young adult and team player in these next years to come.
