When I was in fifth grade, I remember one of my friends telling me that she was going to play basketball, and she encouraged me to play too. I told my parents about it and they were in quite the shock as I was a tiny fifth grader who had never even touched a basketball, but they supported me trying. My very first practice I fell in love with the sport and it quickly became my obsession. I was definitely not the best on my team, but I kept a good attitude and was getting better with each practice. I played all throughout middle school and wasn't sure about playing in high school until my school invited Indiana Fever player Lexie Hull to my school. Hearing her story in person was so inspiring and I began working hard to achieve my dreams. That season, I was a starter for my team and knew I just had to play in high school. The summer going into my Freshman year was a struggle, and that season I was struggling with both the mental and physical aspects of the game. I lacked many skills that my teammates had and it made a huge impact on my confidence. However, during this AAU season, I have made it my mission to become the best player I can be and I am working everyday with many different people to achieve my dream of playing at the next level. As every player does I have had mental blocks and I lack certain physical aspects, but I have overcome all of those things. I take time to work on the mental aspect, and I don't let my size define me as a player. Now, my ultimate goal is to take my basketball career to the collegiate level and maybe even farther. As a player, I am very agile and aggressive on both sides of the floor, and I am always willing to get better. On and off the court I try my best to represent my faith in every way; whether it's dealing with a frustrating call or spending time with my team, I feel that it is important to represent what I believe in. When I'm on the court, my instinct is to score an outside shot, but I'm not afraid to drive to the basket, or kick out for an assist to one of my teammates. My ultimate strength on the floor is defense. I love to pressure the ball, talk, and look to steal in hopes to get a transition bucket or an opportunity to run a play. Although I am very passionate about basketball, I am also very passionate about my education. I have been fortunate enough to get an amazing education and have decided that I would like to study athletic training, which I have recently fallen in love with. I am a hard working student and am always eager to learn more.
