Timiya Ray '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Timiya C. Ray. I been playing organized basketball since 4th grade. I am currently a senior at Morton Senior High School in Hammond,IN, 46324. I've been on the A and A/B Honor Roll ever since elementary school and will continue to do so in my future studies. I was unable to play a full season for my freshman and sophomore year because of foot surgeries. Now I'm fully healed and ready to work. My goal is to finish four years of study at a college while playing basketball. I want to get a bachelor's degree in business/accounting. It would be awesome to achieve my childhood dream of getting drafted into the WNBA or play overseas. 

My blocking ability and perimeter shooting would be a great asset for a team. I always like to boast about my ability to stride from the free throw line or corner three for a lay-up. If I can say one thing about myself that would be that I never complain. I'm the type of player that would pass on an opportunity to play on the best team with the best players, just to play with a mediocre team that's capable to be the best. My favorite NBA team is the Boston Celtics. They were one of the best teams in the league, but now they're struggling just to make the playoffs. The Celtics model the type of team I would love to play for; rebuilding but with potential. I know I am best on a team that needs me and not a team that needs to deck out their roster. In my opinion, with good coaching and a dedicated team you can still be great.
