Sydney Beck '21 Recruiting Profile

If someone was to ask me what my best attribute, it would be my attitude and my dedication to working hard. When I put my mind to something I’m going to do it. My coaches in the past have described me as a hard worker and someone who always takes practice seriously. I am always trying to push myself to be better than I was the day before. My philosophy on the court is to play hard no matter what. Defense is my specialty and what I enjoy most about the game. I know every coach I’ve had will talk about my help defense and how it is a different game when I’m on the court.

I enjoy playing both basketball and soccer. I have also played competitive soccer since age 6. I switched to be our goalie last Spring and achieved 9 shutouts and only 12 goals allowed my very first season. I joined a competitive basketball program three years ago where I’ve played the 3-5 positions on both my club and school teams. I played Varsity as a freshman and sophomore and a starting position my junior year.  We went to state my sophomore year and finished 5A State Runner Up. I'm also the starting goalie for our nationally ranked high school soccer team at Blue Valley Southwest.

If anything comes before sports it would be my academics. I take pride in my grades and am pleased to say that I earned a 4.35 GPA with Honors Math, English and Spanish along with several AP classes.

I am involved in our student-led school store called The Den and am the youngest member of the team. I’m also involved in DECA where I earned a top 5 finish in my very first competition. I also enjoy art especially painting. I've been selected for several juried shows to display my work. I strive to be highly competitive in every aspect of my life.

My whole family is to thank for my success in sports and in life. I can’t even begin to express my gratitude for their sacrifices that help me play the game I love dearly.

My goal for the future is to join a high-level collegiate basketball program where I can earn my degree in business. I would love the opportunity to speak with you more in depth both about my basketball and academic goals. I know I would be a valuable asset to your program!
