Maya Gordon '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Maya Gordon. I play for Loch Raven High School's varsity basketball team. I'm the starting point guard and have been for the past 4 years. I have been playing since middle school. I also play soccer for high school and have played many other sports growing up. I gained a love for basketball growing up watching my two older siblings play. I went from just playing with them for fun to always being in my front yard practicing by myself or at a local court or gym with my friends. My brother is a trainer so he helped me start. When I had people and coaches tell me I would be a real leader on the court I invested in basketball more and became a leader on and off the court. 

Academically, I understand the importance of balancing my passion for basketball with my commitment to school. Each year starting from 9th grade I have improved my grades significantly. I now hold a 3.5 weighted cumulative average. I started high school during Covid and it was not an easy transition. I embraced the challenge each year and believe dedication and time management skills and basketball will serve me well in my academic goals.
