My father always encouraged my love of basketball and shared his love for the game with me. He was always a huge support when it came to improving my skills to become a better athlete. In the 6th grade my father passed away unexpectedly. I remember saying goodbye to him at the end of basketball practice not knowing that the hug I received from him that day would be my last. Since then I strive to be the young woman I know my father would be proud of. Our dream of playing basketball still lives within me. I learned how to let hard times make me a stronger person. I do not let obstacles bring me down. On the contrary, obstacles give me all the more reason to push harder and succeed.
My college goal is to be accepted at a university where I can combine Psychology and Theater to prepare me for a future career in Drama Therapy. My desire is to use this form of artistic expression to help others overcome challenges and lead a more successful life.
Academically, I am hardworking, focused, attentive, motivated, dedicated and a team player. I bring those same character traits to the court. I am different from other recruits because I am positive and persistent. I do not allow obstacles to deter me and always give my best in the classroom and on the court.
As a point guard, I excel at quickly learning skills and plays, reading the court and finding the open player. I know each position and the duties associated with that position. I believe in encouraging my teammates and believing in them until they can believe for themselves.
I am different from other recruits in several ways. Of the 208 students in my Junior Class, I rank 36. I have a 3.4 grade point average (G.P.A.) and am currently taking two Advanced Placement (AP), 4 Gifted and Talented (GT) and two Honors classes.
I believe that I will be able to make a positive contribution to the university and the team.
