Personal Statement
My name is Maria Gamberoni, and I am a 5' 8" point guard from Dalton, Massachusetts. In both my freshman and sophomore years, I competed for my school's varsity basketball team, and I helped my team reach the Western Mass Finals and Semifinals. I was chosen for the all-western Mass team both my freshman and sophomore years. In the spring seasons of eighth, ninth, and tenth grades, I played for the AAU team, Mass Frenzy. Our team had a winning record at several tournaments along the east coast and in Kentucky. I pride myself on being a hard worker and a team player both on the court and in the classroom. I am a person who is eager to learn and ambitious to hear feedback from coaches, teachers, and teammates. In the classroom, I continue to work hard to maintain my 4.0 (98) average, while challenging myself with all honors and AP courses. On the court, I am an aggressive, dedicated, and outgoing individual. I work hard to create opportunities for my teammates to score, while also taking advantage of openings for myself. I put myself in a leadership position as I take care of the ball and organize the offense. When I make a mistake on the court, I do my best to stay focused and earn the ball back with a quick defensive stop. I work my hardest to persevere and overcome adversity whenever it approaches. I believe that being a supportive teammate can have a big impact on the dynamic of a team, and that is why I continue to build my teammates up and boost their confidence as much as possible. I am looking forward to playing basketball in college, while making connections with both teammates and coaches that will last a lifetime.
