Ava Dwyer '26 Recruiting Profile

Hi, my name is Ava Dwyer! I am a 5'7 point guard in the class of 2026 from Tewksbury, Massachusetts. I am a freshman at the Groton School and play AAU for the 15u Bay State Jaguars National Team. I started playing basketball in the fourth grade, and my love and passion for the game has continued to grow ever since. Over the years, I have learned to use my passion as an advantage. I use it for motivation, a hard work ethic, and consistency. 

Even though I adore the game of basketball, education is my highest priority. From a young age I have prioritized academics, and my competitive nature has done nothing but aid my success in school and basketball—I aspire to be the best I possibly can. I understand that may not always be the case, but I will continue to work until I am. For instance, if someone is more skilled at a specific drill than I am, I will practice until I have the upper hand. In the end, my competitive nature translates to academics and athletics, even though school is my main priority.

My dream is to play college basketball at any Ivy League school. Although I do recognize how difficult getting the opportunity to play college basketball is in general, so I would be more than happy to play at any college or university that offers a good education and supportive, yet competitive team atmosphere. I plan on majoring in criminal justice, so the ability to study law would also be ideal. If I am given the opportunity to play college basketball, I will compete and make the most of my time in the classroom and on the court.
