Personal Statement
My name is Samantha Gomes, I started playing basketball in 4th grade at the age of 10 at an after school girls club. Although I started playing basketball late compared to other players, I put in any time that I have into improving my physical strength, skill, and basketball IQ to become as good and better than the people around me. I continue to put forth the best of my efforts everyday in both the physical and mental part of the sport. My goals are to play at a competitive collegiate level and to be the first in my family to go to college and pursue a career. I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. Being a dynamic player and positive influence that reflects onto the team is important to me. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college basketball career, I will strive to be a key player to the roster. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the court, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects me, my family, my team, my coaches and the school that I attend. Being a humble teammate and having proper sportsmanship is huge to me. I know where I stand and play to that level confidently. I'm a good respectful student and enjoy being challenged both on the court and in my classes.
