If I were to tell my younger self that I was setting up a recruiting profile for basketball she would think I was nuts. When I was younger I despised the game of basketball because due to my height everyone would just assume I played and I did not like the shorts. When I was in 8th grade my dad told me that I should at least try it out, so I did and ended up falling in love with the sport. I played many sports growing up; figure skating, softball, volleyball, and track. Once I started playing I began to focus more of my time on basketball and started to drop all my other sports.
I started high school and played on the freshman team and 1/4 into the season the JV coach asked me if I was interested in 5th quartering, of coarse I said yes and started to go to my practices along with the JV. My sophomore year was rough due to ankle injury that set me back for most of the season. I was able to go to physical therapy and strengthen my ankles but now I'm either bracing or taping for every practice and game. I've worked hard all of this past summer doing as much as I can to help with my performance and enhance my athletic abilities.
I wake up every morning to go to the gym before school so I can get reps in before my practice in the afternoon. I did not realize that I could have so much passion for a sport to wake up so early, but once I started to see improvement within my game and abilities I knew that it was worth it.
