Personal Statement
I am a student athlete at Columbus High School. My collegiate goals and aspirations include both academic and athletic success. I prioritize my studies above athletics. I manage my time well so I can be diligent about my athletic training. I currently, do not know what degree I want to pursue, but I am taking aptitude tests to help give me suggestions. I have high expectations of myself growing and maturing, not only as a student athlete, but also as an individual and citizen.
I am a good candidate because I have a strong passion for the game of basketball. I recognize my weaknesses and work twice as hard to make them strengths. I strongly believe and live by the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship. I am a leader by example. It's important to encourage my teammates to have good character as well as improve as a team. My coach will always be able to count on me to work hard on and off the court. I currently hold a 3.9 GPA. I believe that sacrifices are required to excel academically and athletically.
One of the greatest compliments I received regarding basketball, is when my coach told me, "I can tell you love to play the game of basketball." I have had numerous other compliments such as, "You play with heart," and "You have all the talent in the world." I work so hard and enjoy the game so much that others see my satisfaction when I play. This enthusiasm is contagious to my teammates. I will be a great addition to a any team I join. I am very easy to get along with. I value respect and integrity. Being coachable is a strong characteristic I possess. My classroom success proves my work ethic exceeds many. I am good at utilizing all my resources to be the best I can be.
I have worked for EVERYTHING I have accomplished. Nothing, necessarily, came easy to me. I have worked so hard that I am determined to NOT let ANYTHING get in the way of my goals and aspirations. I understand the importance of mental strength. I have lived a life to strengthen my mind and body to strive for a goal, and not let anyone, or anything stop me before I reach my goals.
