My name is Taylor Swanson. Currently, I am a Senior at Kearsarge High School.
When it comes to my college career my number one priority is of course a good education. I need a college I am able to be successful during and after my academic career. Aside from the academic aspect, it has always been a goal of mine to play college basketball. Basketball has been a part of my life since I can even remember, it holds such a large place in my heart, and I would love the chance to play for as long as I can.
I would be a good asset to the team because of my leadership, heart, dedication, and the support I have for my team on and off the court. I was voted Vice President of my class for two years now. In my junior year, I was voted Captain of two Varsity teams, Volleyball and Softball. I put in work whenever I can. I go to my local gym and work out, shoot around, all around try to be better than I was the day before. I am also dedicated to my teammates. Their success is just as important as mine. They are the people whom I want to watch grow as individuals on and off the court.
What I believe makes me stick out from other athletes is my drive to be better. From Freshman year to now I have only grown academically and athletically. During freshman year Covid hit and my grades slipped, Sophomore year I was a strictly B's student while doing hybrid learning. Now my junior year I have all A's and continue to strive to be better. Athletically Freshman year I was a starter on my JV team. The next year I was put on Varsity, however, I got very little playing time. During the season this made me a little upset, but I loved watching my teammates play and succeed. After the season was over I knew I wasn't gonna play another season like that. I put in the work, and started running every day to get my speed and endurance higher than it has ever been, I was playing basketball every day no matter the weather or if I had practice already that day. All the work I had put in paid off when I was put on Varsity my Junior year, I was six-man every game, and I started in a few. My coaches didn't hesitate to tell me how much they have seen me grow and how much I improved, I knew I earned the spot I got.
I am a three-sport athlete, I understand what being on a team means; showing up, being there for your teammates, and picking them up when they may fall down. A team isn't based around a few athletes. My coach always says the team is only as strong as its weakest player, that has always been the truest statement I have ever heard. We play 5 strong on the court and on the bench.
Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me!
