Basketball has taught me the importance of discipline, toughness and teamwork. I value and honor the strength and grit that it has allowed me to develop and I truly enjoy and love the experiences it has afforded me. It is my passion and deepest love. Basketball is what I always come back to- it is in my heart, my blood and my sweat. I love the rhythm of the ball bouncing, the feel of the leather in my hands and the sound of the ball in the net. There is no better peace than that of the gym. Even more, I love working and grinding each day to improve, learn, and grow as a player and a teammate. Basketball requires each player to work together and support each other, while striving each day to be better than the previous. I love to challenge myself and my teammates to our best performances. I have strong ball handling skills, physical defense and a high basketball IQ. I am a team leader and lead by showing a positive example while encouraging teammates. I am extremely coachable and assist my coach in leading practices and coaching other teammates. I also volunteer as a coach at local basketball camps and enjoy working with young people sharing my love of basketball.
I work hard year round on improving my basketball skills as I participate in AAU, Varsity Soccer and Varsity Track. I also participate in weekly weight training sessions. This school year (2022-2023), as a high school sophomore, I was named Captain of the Varsity Soccer and Basketball teams where I was honored to strengthen my leadership skills. I earned the Coach's Award in Varsity Track and MVP and an All- Star honors in Varsity Soccer. I was named MVP of my basketball team and earned All Conference Honors. In addition, I was named to the All Tournament team at the GymRat Tournament in June.
In addition, my grades have always been a priority and I have managed to maintain a strong balance of hard work between academics and extra curriculars. I am on an Honors and AP track and have been on the High Honor Roll each quarter of high school and will be inducted into the National Honor Society later this year. I want to attend college where I can continue to challenge myself in the classroom and on the basketball court.
