Kayla Owens '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kayla Owens. My biggest goal is to strive for success and play basketball in college. I fell in love with basketball when I was only 7 years old. Every single time I step foot on that court to play a game, I play as if it's my last. My life is on the court. I live in Hewlett, New York. I attend George W. Hewlett High School. I play basketball, volleyball, and softball. Even when I am playing volleyball in the fall and softball in the spring, I still play basketball year round and attend various basketball programs during the off-season. The sport that I am most passionate about is without a doubt basketball. I feel powerful when I am on the court! I have played point guard and shooting guard on my middle school and high school teams. 

I started my 9th grade, freshman year on the Junior Varsity basketball team and then was moved up to the Varsity team in the middle of the season, which I am very grateful for. I am also the starting pitcher on my schools Varsity softball team. I have played point guard on my CYO team for three years also. To improve my skills, I also attend various basketball skills camps and bootcamps. I am a team player and want to see my team members succeed with me. I have the ability to lead on and off the court and I am very positive and coachable. My dream would be to play at the collegiate level and I am putting my all to achieve that objective!
