Transition Opport...If you ask any adult (teachers, coaches, or parents) to describe me with one word, my guess is that the word they would use is “determined”. I have been told many times that I have more grit than most kids my age. I work very hard at everything I do. In school, I am taking advanced courses. I attend early morning and after school review sessions. I make special appointments with my teachers on my free time when I need extra help. I study nightly and turn all my assignments in on time. My hard work in the classroom has paid off because I have always had a 90 or above average.
My dedication is also applied to sports. I believe training and skill development should not stop at practice. I feel like this sets me apart from other high school athletes. I train on my own time. After 2-3 hours of practice at school, I make time to do additional training. This training includes running, sprint and hill workouts, weight training, agility training, and shooting and dribbling drills. Not only do I train hard, but I also try to keep my body fit. Unlike most of my teenage friends, I try to eat a balanced diet and get a reasonable amount of sleep. No matter if I am on the field, court, or track, I give every ounce of my energy to what I am doing.
After high school I plan on attending college to study dermatology. The human skin has always been fascinating to me and I hope to pursue a career in this field. I would also like to play basketball at the college level. I know that doing both concurrently will not be easy. I believe my grit and determination will serve me well in the future with my goals.
