Keyana Cardoza '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Keyana Cardoza, and I am currently a junior at Hickory High School. I have played basketball since the age of 10, and I look forward to continuing my career onto the next level. Through my many years of playing basketball, I have realized that true effort and dedication is needed in order to succeed. My ultimate goal is to study in the medical field so that I can become a pediatrician; therefore, I plan to use basketball to help achieve my dream. Although I am not the best player out there, I am a hard worker who loves to be challenged. This determination can be seen throughout my high school career as a basketball player and student. One of my favorite quotes of all time is when Michael Jordan stated, "I can accept failure, everyone fails at something, but i cant accept not trying." I believe in this quote because sometimes athletes have a bad game - I know I have had plenty - but at the end of the day if a person tries their best and gives it 110%, then they succeeded expectation. It is easy to fail and give up, but a true athlete is shown when they fail and learn from their mistakes.
