There are many things that have influenced me to become the person I am today. One specific thing would be the obstacles I have had to overcome as they taught me life lessons and exposed traits I never knew I possessed. I have had to overcome several obstacles to get where I am currently. These obstacles were major setbacks that changed my life in multiple ways, and they came in the form of knee injuries. It was through these hardships that I gained vital characteristics and skills. Determination, perseverance, and tenacity were traits I had to possess in order to get past what life dealt me. I was simply not going to let a few injuries hinder me, my abilities, and my love for the game. After all, I have been playing since third grade and my love for the game, which began the moment I first practiced as a child, is too strong to ignore. Nothing will ever stop me from doing something I love, no matter how long and hard I may have to work. Because in the end, I have learned that hard work, determination, blood, sweat, and tears is more than worth it.
During high school, I have taken AP and dual credit classes which have proven I can handle college curriculum. In college, I plan to major in Biology to further my education on my pathway to medical school. While in college I plan to become more active in student lead organizations. My focus during my high school career was finely tuned into preparing myself for the basketball season following my injuries. This prohibited me from taking part in clubs and organizations I otherwise would have been apart of.
