Personal Statement

Dear  Coach,

My name is KiLee Genslinger from Germantown, Oh and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing college basketball. I am currently a Senior and in my fourth year as a varsity basketball player. I believe I can help you’re team continue to be competitive as they are now and have the work ethic and skills to help make the team even better over the course of my college career?  My height should not be a factor since I have extraordinary physical skills (speed, quickness, strength) My skills are refined and I possess excellent court intelligence, ball handling, passing, leadership and decision-making.   I believe I would be a good fit your program. I consider myself to have tremendous work ethic on and off the court.  I am extremely coachable and liked being coached to get better. I am a good listener and I am constantly striving to better myself every day.

Just to tell you a little bit about myself.  I am currently a senior and Captain of our basketball team for the second year. I have lettered in three different varsity sports at my school.  I’m a four year starter and letter winner and first team all league  in basketball nd year in a row, 4 year letter winner and first team all league in softball and a 2 year letter winner and all area in soccer.  I belong to the National Honor Society (academic club).  I also belong to project Charlie that encourages younger students to stay off drugs. We do this by visiting the classrooms and presenting ways to stay off drugs. Another club I belong to is the Interact Club which has helped me grow, learn and help with community service projects.  With these experiences I can bring to your team a highly competitive desire to be coachable, learn, practice and play with an extreme high level of effort to help your team be successful.

As a student, I currently have a 3.85GPA and rank 12 in my class).  As a sophomore I took the Act and received a 23.   My belief that participating in three sports prepare me not only athletically but academically for college as it highlights the importance of striving for excellence with grades and excellence on the field of play as well.  It demonstrates that I have the work ethic to get excellent grades and handle the work load and demands of college academics and athletics.

I would love to meet you and talk about the possibility of being a part of your team in 2015. If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program please let me know what I can do to improve upon. Thank you very much for your time and I look forward to hearing back and contacting you via phone/email soon.
