Personal Statement
As an athlete at Williamsburg High School, I am a starting power forward guard. I am 6 foot even and weigh 162 pounds; I am a pretty fast player when it means getting back on defense or doing a break away for offense to make a quick lay-up. My most important accomplishments for my high school career so far are: Sophomore year I received 1st team All-Conference, plus the Offensive Player of the Year team award. My junior year I achieved Honorable Mention All-State, 2nd Team All-District and 1st Team All-Conference. I was nominated for Player of Year, but missed it since the award was given to the #1 team in our conference. This seemed unfair to me since I had a better season overall and lead the number of points made, and offensive and defensive rebounds, but I do understand that the rules are what they are, and I can't change that. I am still very proud of my accomplishments. I was also awarded Offensive Player of the Year as our team award. I am also excited that I am only 263 points away from achieving my biggest desire, which is to hit and exceed the 1,000 career point goal. This is very obtainable during my senior year and a goal that I will work very hard to achieve. I offer my team a lot of leadership. I mainly get this from my mother, but I have developed a lot of leadership skills in my 3 years in basketball. Usually when you are a junior in high school you are not eligible to be a team captain because that position is reserved for Seniors, but I was asked to be the assistant captain because on the floor I am a team player, and do my part to keep people up and happy. Confidence is the key when it comes to success on the floor. I play with all 5 of my teammates, and not just for myself. Every since I was little I wanted to play basketball at the collegiate level. One school that I follow closely and really think has a good basketball club is Xavier University. I am a huge fan. They are a great basketball team and really hold stuff together. I know I have potential when it comes to a school that's really good. When it comes to geographic location I prefer to stay in Ohio or the surronding states as family is very important to me and there is nothing like looking up into the crowd and seeing my family there supporting and cheering me oN. If I am able to get a scholarship, I will be willing to go wherever it takes me. I prefer a smaller school atmosphere, but not too small. I like classrooms more on the smaller size because I work better that way. I believe that having more one on one time with a professor would help me a lot. My family members do not have financial needs, but to be awarded a scholarship would be outstanding, and another one of my lifelong accomplishments. My desired major is Criminal Justice, plus I have a couple of other options in healthcare which are on my profile, but I have always liked things dealing with the law, and it interests me the most. I love to make a big impact on the team, and if you recruit me to your team I won't let you down when it comes to working hard, giving my all, and never quitting. I will always give you my full attention and play the hardest I can at every practice and every game no matter what mood I am in or if something is bothering me. If I get recruited to join a college team, I know I will be joining the club as a freshmen, who sometimes don't get much game playing time, and I am okay with that, but I would love to be out on the court helping my team and leading them to the highest points. However, as I said, I wouldn't be upset knowing thay someday if I work hard enough that I will earn my spot to play as a starter in games. My passion is basketball and just to be out on the court playing is what I love. It's not always about points and who is watching, it's about being a part of something spectacular and achieving goals that I set for myself. Thank you for your time. I hope to hear from you soon.
