My name is Payton Brintnall and I am a 5'6 shooting guard from Orinda, CA. I'm going into hopefully my first year on the varsity team after improving from Junior Varsity 2, to Junior Varsity, and hopefully varsity for this season. I have been playing for Lakeridge High School for three years now in the cutthroat league that is Three Rivers. I have a 3.89 GPA, and I am an adaptable and versatile student- athlete. My coaches might describe me as a hard workers, and I am. I have lived by the words, especially being a black woman "You have to work twice as hard to get half as far", I am also coachable, committed. I have been playing basketball since I was seven years old, but took a break in sixth grade due to a four minute seizure, but I powered through that and so many other unexplainable experience, and yet, I stay committed to basketball and my love for the sport only continues to grow as I improve. Though I am not planning on playing pro, I do want to play basketball in college and frankly, I can see basketball being a passion of mine for the rest of my life.
A university where I can find an equilibrium between academics and athletics is important to me, as well as to start my career path to being a neurosurgeon. I would like to attend a university where I can take a direct path, having an academic reputation in a major in neuroscience and a minor in psychology. Theoretically, the athletic environment should be one where I can grow personally and with my team as well as create an immediate impact and bring something new to the table. I believe that I can prove myself at any level and explore the different academic opportunities.
