It was the end of the first half and we only scored 6 points. We let the other team score 34. The tension was high. Coach didn’t know what to say to us. My teammates were giving up, the parents were getting mad and annoyed, and the other team was cheering. Coach called out who was starting the second half. He called out four players and me. We all huddled up before we went out there. We wanted to start out strong and make a come back—that was my goal. We wanted to win. We played defense like we had never played before, we were pressing in “no catch” and made the other team struggle. We were down by 4 with 2 minutes left. We ended up coming up short 4 points in the final. We won that second half. We gained respect.
My basketball IQ is high and I can read the court well. I would make a great addition to any team. As a player, I am not selfish at all. I come up with more assist than points. I make the right passes at the right moment and can calm the game down when we are too excited and going too fast. I never give up. I put my heart out on the court from the first basket to the final buzzer. With my shooting range and quick speed, I can be a huge threat to opponents. I motivate my team and pick them up when they are down. I am a team player and not an individual member of a team.
