Personal Statement
I have been playing basketball since I was 6 years old. From the first time I picked up a ball, I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. For the past two years my playing time has been lessened due to the pandemic, and if it taught me anything, it’s that I need this game. As a player I pride myself on my size, speed, and work ethic. I constantly study the game and my coaches have always complimented me on my game IQ. Throughout the Covid lock down I spent time honing my shooting and increasing my strength and endurance. Coaches have historically commented on my coachability, and I am consistently considered one of the hardest workers on my teams.
I train for basketball year-round, attending numerous camps, playing AAU, and more. Additionally, throughout the year I also play soccer, and run track for my school. Along with athletics, I take academics and music very seriously as well. I currently have a 4.0 GPA and am taking several Honors courses such as Honors Chemistry and AP World History. I’m also a percussionist in our school band and have played piano for 7 years.
I want to attend a college where I am challenged both academically and on the basketball court. I strive to be a good team player and teammate who will help lead my team to success. After college my dream is to play and eventually coach at the professional level.
