Hi, my name is Anjelique Cooley and I earned my B.S. in Health & Exercise Science (minor in Coaching) at Syracuse University. I stand at 5''3 and 140 pounds. In my Four years of college I did not compete for any NCAA athletic teams and was not able to tryout for the basketball team due to not having the correct Health Insurance. Upon that journey, I tried out for the NCAA Rowing team (not knowing I would make it) as a way to stay active for my potential walk-on tryout. However, my insurance was still not good enough and in order to understand the game more and see what I could offer to my program if I was allowed to tryout, I became a Syracuse University's Women's Basketball Manager 2013-2014 Season. While managing the team, I was an athlete on the 1st ever Syracuse Women's Club Basketball team and also apart of the Track & Field Club. I also maintained great academics in being a Summer UNC- Charlotte Research Scholar, Renee Crown Honors Student and a McNair Scholar. This allowed me to travel abroad to Australia to study at the University of Queensland (St. Lucia), where I tried out for their basketball team. Last Summer I was also on ESPN contending for a College Championship Title in an obstacle course race built by Navy Seals.
Currently, I advance my fitness and strength & conditioning level by competing as an Unattached Track & Field Jumper and Sprinter and doing my own Basketball Drill Training. My next move is graduate school for Sports Physiology and/or Physical Therapy. In ending my undergraduate journey without playing to the next level, I have used Track & Field to excel my training as it was financially less taxing than basketball. For graduate school I hope to do what I never got the opportunity to even try as a walk-on to do. That is to play the sport that I and my teammates brought my city in its first and only championship to this day; and to be great at it. When given the opportunity, I know I will rise up to the challenge and beyond that.
