TAYA GONZALES '20 Recruiting Profile

I'm 16 years old and am a Junior at Chisholm Trail High School. I play on the Varsity Basketball team, Varsity Volleyball and Marching Band.  My passion for basketball began at a young age when I realized that I could be aggressive, and it not necessarily was a bad thing. I hope that one day I can show the collegiate world what I’m made of.

I am a determined STUDENT-athlete and a very hard worker. My grades are very important to me, I work just as hard on my grades as I work on my skills on the court. I realize that I cannot get into college without taking care of my grades. I am a A-B honor roll student and strive to be an all A honor roll student. I take all upper level classes to challenge me. A good challenge is always something fun in my eyes.

I strive to be the hardest worker on my team but while being a great leader as well. Someone once told me that a leader never takes a day off and I took that to heart. Every day I am always putting in work, whether it’s me staying after school and working on my jump shot or me showing up as early as possible to get in a little running to stay in shape. My high school coach preaches family and teamwork, to me that is the most important key to a good team. You must be there for your team when they are feeling weak on that last set of bench press or that very last lap around the stands.

If given the chance to play in the collegiate level I would love to represent that school with hard work and a passion like no other. Division is not a factor in my decision, but the chance to play for a coach that can challenge me both mentally and physically and academically.
