Personal Statement
Basketball has been my passion all my life. Through bad days and times where I've wanted to give up; basketball was there. If I get a chance to play at a higher level I would not miss it for the world, nor would I take for granted the opportunity that I have been blessed with. My goal is to ultimately play on a winning Division I or Division II team. Although, I believe that in the end, I will be placed in a school exactly where God wants me to be... successful not only as an athlete, but as a student as well. I have always been taught that the point guard is the leader, on and off of the court. I make it my goal evey day to wake up and show nothing less than what is expected of me. I hold myself at a higher standard, therefore more responsibility than the norm is placed on my plate... the way I like it. =)
As far as basketball goes, I find my biggest strength to be passing. I see the court very well and easliy (and preferably) pass up a contested shot to give my teammate the open lay-up. I believe this to be a skill that not every point guard has. I can shoot well if needed, averaging 18 pts per game, with a game high of 36 points; (including 8 three pointers in one game)... but my philosophy on being a point guard is to create for others; more points gained through assists than my own points. I take pride in my left-side game, as it is more advanced than most others in my position. My defensive game lately has been exactly where I want it to be. I am constantly working on my lateral speed so I can have that one extra step in me to make that stop.
I plan to major in Psychology and hopefully double-minor in Kinesiology and in Music Education.
